Rules and Submission Process

1. Submissions:

• Each participant, as a member of Terafty, is allowed to submit a maximum of two scenarios.
• All scenarios must revolve around Korea, its culture, or Korea-related themes. While the story doesn’t necessarily have to take place in Korea, it should be connected to Korea in a meaningful way.
• The scenario can be written in either English or Korean. We welcome submissions in both languages.
• Participants can choose to submit their scenarios in one of two acceptable formats: film script scenario or narrative short story.
• Scenarios should fall within a word range of 300 to 3,000 words.
• The submission period opens on May 25 and closes on June 23.

2. Ownership and Prizes:

• Once selected as winners, the submitted scenarios will become the full property of Terafty.
• As a gesture of our gratitude, the winner will receive a cash prize of $500, and the runner-up will receive $200.

3. Selection Process:

• After the submission period, our team at Terafty will carefully review all entries.
• Seven scenarios will be chosen as finalists based on their creativity, originality, and alignment with the contest theme.
• The final selection will involve a combination of public voting by the Terafty community and Terafty’s own expert panel:
  • 50% of the final decision will be based on user votes received through the Terafty platform.
  • The remaining 50% will be determined by Terafty‘s expert panel.

4. Eligibility:

• Participants must be registered members of Terafty’s website to become eligible for the contest. Registration ensures a seamless submission process and helps us communicate with you effectively.
• Participants must have a valid PayPal account to receive the cash prize.

5. Submission Instructions:

• To submit your scenario, follow the submission link (https://bit.ly/teraftycontest). Ensure you fill in all required fields and provide a clear and concise description of your scenario.
• The submission period opens on May 25 and closes on June 23. Any submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.

6. Announcement Schedule

• The submission period for the Korea-Inspired Film Scenario Contest will be open from May 25 to June 23, 2023. During this time, participants can submit their scenarios for consideration.
• Finalists Announcement and Voting:
  • On June 29, 2023, we will announce the 7 finalists from all the submissions received. These finalists will be selected based on their creativity, originality, and alignment with the contest theme.
  • From June 30 to July 11, 2023, the Terafty community will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite scenarios among the finalists. The combined results of public voting and Terafty’s expert panel evaluation will determine the winners.
• Winner Announcement:
  • On July 14, 2023, we will announce the winner and runner-up of the Korea-Inspired Short Film Scenario Contest. The final decision will be based on a combination of the public voting results and Terafty’s expert panel evaluation.

7. Terms and Conditions

• By participating in the contest, you agree to comply with the contest rules and the decision-making process outlined by Terafty.
• Terafty reserves the right to disqualify any submission that violates the terms and conditions or contains inappropriate content.
• By participating in the contest, you acknowledge and agree that Terafty may make modifications to the winning scenario during the process of transforming it into a short film. While we have full ownership of the scenario, we will make reasonable efforts to keep the winning participant informed about any significant modifications that may be made.
• Terafty is not responsible for any technical issues, delays, or interruptions that may occur during the submission process or the contest period.
• Participants must ensure that their submissions are original and do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party.
• Terafty reserves the right to modify, cancel, or terminate the contest at any time, for any reason, without prior notice.
• Participants are solely responsible for any legal obligations, including taxes, arising from winning a cash prize.
• Any personal information collected during the contest will be used solely for the purpose of the contest and will be handled in accordance with Terafty’s privacy policy.
• Participants retain the rights to their submissions except for the winning scenario, which will become the property of Terafty.
