
Jennie, a prominent member of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, has received a coveted invitation to attend the esteemed Cannes Film Festival, scheduled to be held from May 16 to 27. This invitation was extended to Jennie’s acting debut, the HBO series “The Idol,” which has been selected for the out-of-competition section at Cannes 2023, as announced by the festival’s organizers on Thursday (local time).
Jennie’s agency, YG Entertainment, confirmed the invitation, but stated that she is yet to decide whether to attend the ceremony or not. “The Idol” was co-created by Abel Tesfaye, the Canadian pop star famous as The Weeknd, Sam Levison, and Reza Fahim. The series revolves around the music industry, focusing on a self-help guru and leader of a cult, who develops a complicated relationship with a rising pop idol. It also features renowned celebrities like Tesfaye, Lily-Rose Depp, and Troye Sivan.
